I’m a big kid now
I am having a love affair with our new leather furniture. And my boyfriend isn’t even jealous.
Last Thursday we finally bought the furnishings I’ve been wanting for our living room. We had purchased a cheap futon when we first moved to the land of silicone and Mercedes Benz, but had discarded it in February when we moved to our current place in West Hollywood. The futon was not worth keeping. We would have needed to rent a truck just to move the dilapitated pile of cheap metal, and let’s face it: renting a vehicle to move a conglomeration of worthless Walmart manufactured crap was not worth the time, money or effort it would have taken to keep the silly piece of garbage. Spoiler alert: WALMART FURNITURE ISN’T MANUFACTURED TO LAST THE AGES. I know you’re surprised.
“You waited 3 and a half months to purchase living room furniture,” you ask? Yes. Yes we did. “You bought a Nintendo Wii before you bought a couch?” Yes. Yes we did. It’s all about the priorities. We could have bought another equally crappy piece of make shift furniture in the mean time, sure. Maybe we should have splurged and bought a cuter version of the Walmart inspired futon from somewhere fancy. Like Target. But let’s face it, Internet, I am a picky bastard and like nice things. I was not about to buy furniture from Walmart or Target. Again. And besides, that 200$ for a Target futon was spent on far more important things, like booze. And spermicidal lube.
But now? Now we have a beautiful leather couch and recliner, and the apartment suddenly feels like home. It’s amazing how much of a difference something like seating makes. I feel like a real person again and it feels oh so gooooood. This living room set will be in our little family for a long, long time. And that’s a kind of long term commitment I can totally handle.

How many tubes of lube would equal out to $200?

It’s the age old question. Do you want to spend big bucks for something nice and that will last? Or do you buy the cheaper stuff, save some money, and buy again in five years…or less. I’m with you. Pictures please.
